IR001

Imperative Residence is proud to announce it's first ever release! After a long wait, Ohana's second album 'Dead Beat' is available nationally as of today.

A reaction to what the band saw as weaknesses in their debut, Dead Beat sees a sharp pull of focus on to concise, restrained composition. No longer interested in playing to acute shifts in dynamics, the quartet recognised that rather than limitless vehicles, their songs are geometric spaces with defined dimensions- all too easily filled up by the first strike of a traditional rock instrument. Space is the elusive factor, and the tension arising from creating it with items designed to remove it defines a band making crucial, independent Australian music.

Dead Beat was recorded at Head Gap in Melbourne by Neil Thomason (My Disco, Further, Love of Diagrams) and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac) in mid-2008.

Ohana will be touring in October:
